Dwyer Instruments, Great Plains Industries, Panametrics, Newport and TTI cover the range. The medium narrows the field faster than anything else. A turbine meter suited to clean diesel will not survive slurry or high-viscosity oil, and a meter calibrated for water will read incorrectly on any fluid with a different density or viscosity unless it is compensated. Line size and the available straight pipe run upstream and downstream come next, since most inferential meters assume a developed flow profile and will read low or unstably if installed immediately after an elbow or valve. Finally decide whether you need local totalising only or a transmitted signal. Tell us the medium, line size, flow range and the output your system expects.
