Electrical test instruments in this section cover insulation resistance and high-voltage withstand testing, earth and ground resistance, clamp-on current measurement, battery and cable diagnostics, gaussmeters and multi-channel data acquisition.

Megger dominates the insulation and ground resistance range, with Fluke, AEMC, Extech and Gossen Metrawatt covering clamp-ons, installation testers and general electrical maintenance work. Test voltage is the usual specification trap: an insulation tester rated to 1 kV is appropriate for building wiring but not for medium-voltage motors or cable acceptance testing, where 5 kV or 10 kV units with polarisation index and dielectric absorption ratio functions are expected. Ground resistance work is similar, where three-pole fall-of-potential, four-pole soil resistivity and clamp-on stakeless methods each suit different site conditions.
